Obituary for Ruth Lewis
Ruth E. Lewis 92, of Pekin passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at Hallmark House Nursing Home. Born in Bardolph, IL to James and Carrie Ann Baldock Jackson on Aug 26, 1917. She married Edwin G. Lewis in Macomb on May 29, 1936, he preceded her in death on Oct 15, 1988. Her son Richard and 5 sisters also preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her sons: Ronald (Ann) Lewis of Osage Beach, MO, Rodney (Rozell) Lewis of Morton, Edwin (Molly) Lewis Jr. of Green Valley and her sister Ethel Bartlett of Sterling. She also leaves behind many grand, great grand, step-grand, step-great grand, great great grand, and step-great great grandchildren. She was a Cook at the Tazewell Co. Nursing Home, retiring in 1966 and a member of the Deer Creek Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at Abts Mortuary on Friday June 25, at noon. Pastor Henry Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Deer Creek Baptist Church; 207 N. Main St. Deer Creek, IL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
