Obituary for Sally Schell Whittemore
Sally Schell Whittemore, 54 of Washington died at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday January 7, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Sally was the beloved wife of Michael Whittemore, whom she married on October 10, 2003. She was born in Peoria on May 17, 1954 to Justin and Pat (Rhodes) Wolstenholm. She is survived by her husband and parents, along with one daughter, Caitlin Schell, at home, one step-daughter, Meghann Whittemore of Conneticut, also surving are 3 brothers, Ron (Diane) Wolstenholm of Bloomingdale, IL, Carey (Christine) Wolstenholm of Naperville, IL and Gene (Justteen) Wolstenholm of Peoria. She also leaves 3 nephews, Scott (Katherine) Wolstenholm of San Jose, CA, Jason Wolstenholm of Naperville, IL, and Ryan (Lisa) Wolstenholm of Oswego, IL and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her infant sister, Susan, and her grandparents. She was the long time owner of Cottontail Country Antiques in Peoria Heights, and more recently, along with her husband worked from their home and traveled with their business. They were members of the New Hampshire Antique Dealers Association. She enjoyed traveling around the country, but really enjoyed New England and buying and selling of early American antiques. She enjoyed helping decorate many of her loyal customers homes with extraordinary talent. She especially loved seashell hunting off the shores of Punta Gorda, Florida, where she and her husband also shared a home. Cremation has been accorded. No service is scheduled at this time, and a private family service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, she has requested donations be sent to, Methodist Hospice Services, 120 NE Glen Oak ave., Suite 209, Peoria, IL 61603. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
