Obituary for Sara Hirz
Sara Anne Hirz, 82, of Farmington passed away at 9:00 am Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Farmington Country Manor. She was born on Jan 1, 1935 in Farmington to Allen V. and Elaine (Butler) Strong. She is survived by one daughter, Suzan Hirz, and one son, Paul (Jennifer) Hirz. She was preceded in death by her brother, Allen V. Strong, Jr.
Sara was a graduate of Monmouth College, where she majored in Education and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She taught school for several years in Barrington, IL and Hawaii. In later years, she enjoyed working as an Assistant Librarian at Farmington Public Library and Spoon River College and was a member of PEO, Chapter AE.
Sara’s lifelong passion was music. She was a gifted pianist and organist. She played the organ for many years at the First Presbyterian Church in Farmington and the piano from childhood through her time at Farmington Country Manor.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 29 at the First Presbyterian Church in Farmington. Dr. Rev. Linda Philabaun will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to her church.
