Obituary for Sharon Ruth Mihelick
Sharon Ruth Mihelick, 61, of Metamora passed away on June 15, 2016, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sharon was born on May 26, 1955 in Decatur, IL to Frederick Harrison Searfoss and Blodwyn Elizabeth (Moses) Searfoss. Both parents preceded her in death. She married Douglas S. Mihelick on October 15, 1983 in Peoria, IL. He survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Megan Rose Mihelick of Prospect Heights, IL; one sister, Susan Elizabeth (Searfoss) Barger of Decatur, IL; and one brother, Brian Harrison Searfoss of St. Louis, MO. She grew up in Decatur, IL and after graduating with an accounting degree from Illinois State University, joined Peoria based accounting firm, Clifton Gunderson. She worked in various positions at Clifton Gunderson and Larson Allen accounting firms over the years. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and best friend. She enjoyed travel, reading, gardening and her beloved labradoodle, Cindy. The family will have a private memorial celebration of her life. Memorial gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society.
