Obituary for Sheryl "Sherry" (Carlson) Rodgers

Sheryl “Sherry” (Carlson) Rodgers, 74 of Hanna City, IL, passed away in Chicago on November 11, 2023, following complications arising following hip replacement surgery.

Sherry was born to Betty Mardell (Miller) Carlson and Donald Eugene Carlson on February 3, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois. In 1972, she embarked on a lifelong partnership when she married the love of her life, Ray Rodgers. This year, they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her two adoring sons, Chad Rodgers of Bartonville and Scott (Cindy) Rodgers of Peoria, a precious granddaughter named Mira, and a cherished brother, Craig (Sherry) Carlson of Cape Coral, FL.

Sherry attended Princeville High School her freshman year. As part of homecoming activities, Sherry rode the float as the Princeville Princess for her class. Following a move to Sunnyland, she finished her education at East Peoria High School.

Sherry devoted her early years to caring for her boys until they began school. Following this, her work career included notable stints at GE Credit in Dawson's, Adam's Furniture and Dynamic Graphics.

Sherry's essence radiated kindness, warmth, and a captivating sense of humor. She possessed a beauty that transcended the physical, with a heart overflowing with unconditional love. Her presence brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and numerous close friends.

To honor Sherry's remarkable life, a celebration of life will be held at Saint Mary’s Parish Hall in Kickapoo on Saturday 11/18 from Noon to 3PM. Please join us as we come together to remember, honor, and celebrate the life of Sheryl "Sherry" Rodgers, a woman whose love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts.
