Obituary for Shirley Kraps
Shirley I. Kraps, 95, of Peoria passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Liberty Village in Peoria. She was born December 2, 1920 in Peoria to John and Gertrude Crumley Frank. She married Walter A. Kraps August 23, 1940 in Peoria; he preceded her in death May 8, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Jack Frank; sister, Cherie Whitehurst and great-granddaughter, Jordyn. She is survived by her children; Carol (Bud) Lowe of Dunlap, Jean (Steve) Koehl of Dunlap and Michael (Kathy) Kraps of Edwards; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Shirley graduated from Brown’s Business College; she was a private secretary of Provost Marshall in the state of Washington during WWII. She worked for Block & Kuhl in Peoria and later for Carson Pirie Scott as a secretary. Shirley and Walter enjoyed traveling. She dearly loved her family, which was the main focus in her life. Shirley lived at Liberty Village for 16 years; the family thanks the very dedicated staff for taking such good care of her. We also want to thank Transitions Hospice’s wonderful care of mother in her final days. The support they offered the family was a blessing. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church 6801 N. Allen Road in Peoria where a memorial service will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11am with visitation one hour prior at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the Life Center. Private burial will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to the church in her name.
