Obituary for Shirley Mears
Shirley A. Mears, 48, of Peoria passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born October 16, 1964 to Maurice and Deloris Ann McDowell Sperry in Peoria. She married Bruce Mears in July 1986 in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 2011. Her father also preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Deloris Ann Sperry of Peoria; son, Ryan (Camiella) Mears of Marquette Heights; daughter, Brittney Mears of Peoria; grandchildren, Jakob Mears, Bentley Conners and Tatum Conners (due next month) all of Peoria; step-son, Troy Mears of St. Petersburg, FL; siblings, Tammy (Andy) Hendricks of Galesburg, Terry (Jessie Johnson) Sperry of Peoria, Harvey (Bonnie) Sperry of Peoria, Gary Sperry of Peoria, Carol (Brian) Peek of Princeville, Ronda Murdock of Peoria and 13 nieces and nephews. Shirley enjoyed her family and friends especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bonfires and riding motorcycles with her friends. She attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 26, at 10 a.m. Rev. Sammy Waller will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to 15:8 Project at her church or Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria in her name.
