Obituary for Thomas Jr. Stein
Thomas E Stein, Jr, age 50, of West Peoria, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 3:07pm due to complications after massive cardiac arrest in the OSF Hospital ICU. His passing was peaceful, and he was surrounded by his loved ones.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 15 years, Christina Stein; his father, Thomas E Stein, Sr; and his three brothers, Guy Willer, David Stein, and Timothy Stein. He also has three children from previous relationships, Jared Stein-Roe, Ashley Stein-Roe Robertson, and Sierra Stein, as well as 5 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

His death means he follows his mother, Sandra Lee Stein, and his grandmother, Marietta Hagewood.

Thomas was an accountant, following in his grandmother's footsteps with years of training at her hand, and took over her business following her retirement in 2010, when he returned to Illinois after living way down South in Texas for years. He never quite got used to being down there, commenting frequently that Texans needed to pay more attention to the state motto of "Drive friendly, the Texas way."

Like any Illinois-bred man, he was a lifelong sports fan, and he was always searching the TV for Cubs games when he lived in Texas, usually unsuccessfully. His hopes for this year's Cubs, and his long lived despair over his beloved Bears, were frequent topics of conversation. His main pet peeve with regards to his wife was that Tina was raised a Cheesehead.

Thomas loved classic cars, and classic rock, and often bemoaned the fact that he did not have a motorcycle, and that Tina preferred Toyota to Chevy. He enjoyed playing video games online, and had people across the world who considered him a friend. His alliance of buddies in the online game World of Tanks has banded together to wreak havoc while telling raunchy jokes in his honor.

Despite being a dog person, he loved his wife's cats, and was happy to let their new kitten Nyxie wrap him around her paw and nibble on his chin.

In accordance to his wishes, there will be no service. His remains will be cremated, and will reside at his home, as Tina is not quite ready to let him go.

His family would like to add that in the last hours of his life, Thomas' treatment at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center was respectful and thorough, and the interactions we had with the staff there were compassionate, kind, and understanding. We appreciate everything they tried to do for Thomas.
