Obituary for Veronica E. Simoncini
Pekin - Veronica E. “Vera” Simoncini, 80, of Pekin passed away at Morton Terrace Nursing home on Thursday November 22, 2007. Born August 27, 1927 in Calumet City to Thomas and Tekla Stankevicius Sestakauckas. She married Anthony “Tony” Simoncini on May 12, 1951 in Calumet City. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1997 along with her parents, her sister and a brother. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Michelle) of Pekin, Daniel (Susan) of Washington, grandsons Bradley and Patrick both of Pekin, brother Anthony Sestak of Clarendon Hills and several nieces and nephews. Vera worked for the Calumet City Telephone Co., then worked for the Spring Bay Tavern then the Bemis Bag Co. in Peoria and from 1960 to 1989 she was a Bindery worker at International Paper, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Pekin Women’s Club, Pekin Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, sold Avon and was a devoted supporter of her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and its school where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of Council of Catholic Women, helped on its Bazaar for many years and bowled on the Ladies of St. Joseph Bowling League. A funeral mass will be held for her on Wednesday November 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Abts Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.

Mass:Wednesday November 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church
