His artistic legacy extended beyond his home, as his work was exhibited in art shows and galleries across Pekin, Peoria, Chicago, and Detroit.
He was a 1978 Graduate of Pekin Community High School and attended class at the Chicago Art Institute and Illinois Central College. His talent for transforming the natural world with his hands led him to a career as a horticulturist for the Pekin Park District, Luthy Botanical Gardens and Kellogg Golf Course until he retired.
Friends and loved ones are encouraged to visit one of the many beautiful gardens around Peoria and Pekin that he created and tended to over the years. You are sure to find his special touches still there. In the spirit of Virgil, spend some time among the flowers and watch the birds fly from tree to tree remembering him how he would like to be.
A private graveside service will be held at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Andrejek.
