Obituary for Virginia A. Holt
Virginia A. Holt, 91, of Pekin passed away at 9:26 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at her son’s residence.
She was born on January 23, 1933, in Gloversville, NY to William Patrick and Edna May (Miles) Geraci.
Virginia married Edward C. Holt Sr., on May 22, 1954, at Great Lakes Naval Center in northern Illinois; he preceded her in death on March 15, 2019. Her parents; sister, Lois Colmone; and daughter, Teresa Grant also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two sons, Edward (Brenda) Holt Jr. of Colorado, William (Lisa) Holt of Mapleton, IL; nine grandchildren, Angie, Michele, Bill, Tom, Gabe, Dom, Mili, Gino and Teressa and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Bryson.
Virginia graduated from Marquette High School in Ottawa and OSF School of Nursing in Peoria.
Virginia, affectionately known as “Pooch” by her family, loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking vacations with her family in their motorhome. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She could often be seen on her porch swing, watching her dogs and feeding the squirrels on Park Avenue. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at her church.
Virginia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Sisters on Heading Avenue, Peoria, in her name.
