Obituary for Virginia Ellison
Virginia Mai Ellison, 86, of Peoria Heights, IL passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. She was born December 16, 1929 in Humphreys County, TN to William and Mattie Cox Buchanan. She married Elmer “Buddy” Ellison June 3, 1950; he preceded her in death on February 10, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Ohlwine of Michigan City, IN, Donna (Pete) Thornton of Peoria Heights, IL, Kathy Stoute of Wilmington, NC; sons, Larry (Zoe) Ellison of Low Point, IL, Jim (Patricia) Ellison of Hartselle, AL; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Mattie Carter of Amarillo, TX and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was a member of Spann Church of Christ in Waverly, TN. She loved country and gospel music, but most of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 6 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at New Hope Community Church 110 E. Mt. Vernon Street in Metamora. Pastor Rod Schertz will officiate. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria or Wounded Warriors Project in her name.
