Obituary for Virginia Nelms
Virginia L. Nelms 77, of Pekin passed away Thursday August 19, 2010 at Pekin Hospital. She was born March 3, 1933 to Albert and Pearl Ryan Keller in Tremont. She was married to Donald Borcherding and later married Kenneth “Gene” Nelms on April 6, 1979 in Pekin. He preceded her in death in May 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 infant daughter Teresa. She is survived by her children Alan (Carla) Borcherding of Tremont, Leanne Borcherding of Pekin, sister; Georgia Largent of Pekin, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-children; Pam (Jack) Burkett of FL, Larry (Janet) Nelms of Pekin, Randy (Barb) Nelms of Pekin and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Virginia worked at Mauries Candy retiring in September 2009. She was a member of the American Legion, and a volunteer at the TCRC Auction where she received an award for her work. A Funeral Service will be held at Abts Mortuary Tuesday August, 24, 2010 at 11am with a Visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Deacon Mark Wilder will officiate. Memorials may be made to TCRC 21310 IL Rt 9, Tremont, IL 61568 or a charity of the donors choice.
