Obituary for Wendell Peterson
Wendell Floyd “Pete” Peterson, 91, of Peoria Heights, IL died peacefully Saturday, August 11, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born November 10, 1920 to Ira and Ida Peterson in Gladstone, IL. He attended Media High School, Western Illinois University, and Bradley University. Pete served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He owned several bars and restaurants including the Rose Room, The Old Hillside, the original Judges Chambers, and the Main Street Steak House. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Blake, and his sister Lillian Curtis, and is survived by his daughter Christine Huffman of Peoria, his son James “Pete” Peterson (Valerie) of Henry, and his loving friend Joan Miller of Pekin. Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of his life will be held at Champs West, 515 N. Western Avenue, Peoria, on Saturday, August 18th, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
