Obituary for William "Bill" Macdonald
William P. “Bill” Macdonald 83, of Peoria passed away peacefully on Friday April 2, 2010 at Heartland of Peoria. He was born May 18, 1926 in Evanston to Dr. Hugh and Edith Macdonald. Bill married Ester Schoolmann in Peoria on June 10, 1950. She survives along with his brother Dr. Richard G. Macdonald of Washington. His parents, twin brother and other brother preceded him in death. As a child, he and his 3 brothers were instrumental and the only living test subject in their father’s development of the Whooping Cough vaccine. Bill served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War, graduated from Bradley University, worked in management at Caterpillar for 37 years in Peoria, York Pennsylvania and Memphis Tennessee was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Peoria. Per his wishes, Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association for research or P.A.W.S.
