Obituary for William D. Jones
William D. Jones 63, of Edwards passed away on Thursday April 17, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born in Pottstown on Feb 27, 1945 to Woodrow and Thora Holt Jones. He married Kathryn Smith in Peoria on June 23, 1974, she survives along with his sons; Robert (Jennifer) Jones of Edwards, Oliver (Kelly) Jones of Cincinnati, OH, daughter Amanda (Carl Brittingham) Jones of Wyoming, brothers Marvin (Joann) Jones and Jack (Sharon) Jones both of Brimfield, sister Merna (Joe) Gray of Farmington and his grandchildren Ian, Hannah, Benjamin and Cassidy also survive. Williams parents and brother Myran preceded him in death. He worked as a Pipe fitter, retiring in 1990. William was a member of Steamfitter Local #353 in Peoria for 42 years, was an active volunteer for 4-H for 15 years, taught welding for the Steamfitters and Electrician union for a number of years and also farmed for many years. He was an avid hunter and antique tractor collector and loved to hunt mushrooms and blackberries. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday April 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Brimfield Union Church. Memorials may be made to the church or the Kidney Foundation.
