Obituary for William Kemp Harms
William Kemp Harms, 80, of Peoria, died at 1:00 PM Wednesday (June 24, 2009) at his home.  He was born July 26, 1928 in Peoria, to William F. & Elsie Kemp Harms. He married Dorthy L. (Herrin) Beckman on March 16, 2007 in Bartonville. She survives.  He is also survived by a son: William (Carmen) Harms of Germantown Hills; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a son-in-law: Michael Slater of Bartonville; a step-son: Darren (Jamie) Beckman of Pekin and a sister: Jeanie Gulley of St. Petersburg, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents; by his loving daughter, Lori Ann Slater on November 11, 2007; 2 brothers; and also a wife the former Shirline Chaney who died in 2007.  He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Peoria First Assembly of God Church.  He retired as an engineer from the Toledo-Peoria and Western Railroad. Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration service will be held on Monday June 29, at 6 p.m. at Peoria First Assembly of God Church on Brandywine. Pastor Dean Grabill will officiate.   The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is in charge of the arrangements.
