Obituary for William W. Phillips
William W. Phillips, 86, of Pekin, IL passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria, IL.
He was born on April 15, 1939, in Pekin, IL to Joseph and Jessie (Shay) Phillips.
William married Dorothy Ann Pollard on October 15, 1976, she preceded him in death July 25, 2013. He later married Freda Fay Berger in 2013; she preceded him in death January 8, 2025. His parents and siblings, Ralph Phillips, Joe Phillips, Jerry Phillips, James Phillips, Alberta Hoak and Joann Rynearson also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, James (Stephanie Buselmeier) Phillips of Decatur, IL, Chris (Becky Siltman) Phillips of Ankeny, IA, Tracy (Lori Bright) Phillips of Pekin, IL; daughter-in-law, Tina Troxell of Pekin, IL; grandchildren, James, Cody, Brenna, Brittany, Micheala, Zack, Brandon, Kaylee, Michael Morgan, Meghan, Mason; and fifteen great-grandchildren and siblings, Larry Phillips of Pekin, IL and Dan Phillips of Texas and several nieces and nephews.
William served in the U.S. Army and worked as a mechanic for the City of Pekin for 27 years retiring in 2004.
He attended Pekin Community Schools.
William loved his dogs and horses. He also loved westerns and cowboys, especially The Lone Ranger. He enjoyed working on cars, scaring his boys when they were younger and harassing his boys by always being on his daughter in laws’ side.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Abts Mortuary 905 S. 5th Street, Pekin, IL 61554. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL with Military Honors.
