Obituary for Gayle C. Spiller
Gayle Carrington Spiller, 83, of Elkhart, IL passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL. She was born March 21, 1932 in Kewanee, IL to Arthur and Marie Gayle Carrington. She married John R. Spiller; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel S. Baker and her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael D. Baker; daughter, Katherine A. (Steven L.) Thornton; granddaughter, Madeline G. Thornton; grandson, Jonathon M. Baker and great-grandson, Gavynn M. Baker. Gayle worked for Venture Department Store. She studied art at Knox College in Galesburg, IL before marrying Robert S. Baker and raising a family in Galesburg, IL, Birmingham, AL and Peoria, IL. She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and assisted her husband, John Spiller in building a paddleboat from scratch. She enjoyed sketching, reading and working puzzles. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a future date.
