Obituary for Marie Jespersen
Marie Mae Jespersen, 93, of Pekin, IL, passed away on November 4th, 2013, at PA Peterson Center for Health in Rockford, IL. Born September 19th, 1920, in Andreas, Pennsylvania, daughter of Franklin and Esther Steigerwalt. Marie received a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1942 from Temple University, and worked as a chemist in the war effort, where she met her husband, Harold Jespersen. They married in 1945 and spent more than 60 years gardening, square dancing, making art, and raising four beautiful children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Winifred Poncavage. Marie is survived by her three sons: David Jespersen, Donald (Jill) Jespersen, and Robert (Doug Howland) Jespersen; her daughter, Carol Delheimer; her grandchildren, Matthew Delheimer and Amanda (Nic) Delheimer Dimond ; her sister Florence Steigerwalt; her brother Joseph Steigerwalt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. On Tuesday, November 12th, the family will receive visitors from 10-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church at 711 Court Street in Pekin, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran School Building Fund, 3201 Court Street, Pekin, IL, 61554.
