Obituary for John (Cid) Sours
John “Cid” Sours, 71, of Pekin passed away after a battle with cancer on October 20, 2017. He was surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was born October 14, 1946 in Pekin to Floyd and Ruth (Porter) Sours. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary Jane (Saal) Sours; He is also survived by his children, Kate (Roy) Palagi, John Sours, Steve (Allison) Sours, Christopher Sours; grandchildren, Jane, Libby, Will, Kiefer and Ben; brother, Floyd (Carol) Sours; brothers-in-law, George (Sharon) Saal, Steve (Susan) Saal, Tom (Silvia) Saal, Bob (Jan) Saal and many nieces, nephews, friends and his dog, Ike. He was preceded in death by his parents. John and his wife owned and operated Sours Grain Company; retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pekin and the Grain & Feed Association. He was a past President of Pekin Youth Hockey and former member of the Elks and Pekin Chamber of Commerce. He loved spending time at the cabin in Minnesota, reading and being with his grandchildren. Most of all he loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed. John was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12 noon with visitation two hours prior at the church. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Burial will follow the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TAPS in his name.
